Hiring

Currently all of our newly hired full time career people are hired directly from our active Paid-On-Call staff.  POC Members are required to be on the department for at least one year to be considered for full-time employment.

 

 

The City of Rice Lake Fire Department conducts the hiring process for new Paid-On-Call members on an as-needed basis.

All POC members are required to enroll in and pass the Firefighter 1 course within one (1) year of being hired.

Requirements for POC applicants are as follows:

• Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years old.
• Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
• Applicant must pass a physical agility examination.
• Applicant must live within fifteen (15) miles of the Rice Lake City limits.
• Applicant must be able to respond to emergency situations when required.
