Hiring
Traditionally, our newly hired full-time career members are hired directly from our active Paid-On-Call staff.
The Rice Lake Fire Department conducts the hiring process for new Paid-On-Call members on an as-needed basis.
All POC members are required to enroll in and pass the Firefighter I course within one (1) year of being hired.
Requirements for POC applicants are as follows:
- Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
- Applicant must pass a physical agility examination.
- Applicant must live within fifteen (15) miles of the Rice Lake City limits.
- Applicant must be able to respond to emergency situations when required.
